A few weeks ago we sent out some information about Indigenous Canada, which is a 12-module, work-at-your-own-pace, free online course exploring Canadian Indigenous histories and contemporary issues. (It’s officially called a “MOOC” - Massive Open Online Course produced by the Faculty of Native Studies at the University of Alberta and offered through an online platform called Coursera.)
Two Community of Christ Zoom Discussion groups have now formed for members and friends across Canada who would like to sign up for this course and discuss within this community the concepts and lessons taught in it. Group #1: For those in Western Canada and/or who enjoy late hours, there is a weekly discussion group Wednesdays at 9:30 pm EDT. The next session is Wednesday July 14th, and on that date the discussion will centre around concepts introduced in Module 3 of the course. Contact Stephen Thompson for Zoom details. Group #2: For those in Eastern Canada and/or who prefer earlier hours, there is a bi-weekly discussion group Wednesdays at 7:00 pm EDT. The next session is Wednesday July 21st, and on that date the discussion will centre around information covered in Modules 2 and 3 of the course. Contact John Nichols or Joan Thompson for Zoom details. Please feel free to join one or both groups, or to switch between them. While having covered the material in each module (about 2 hours each) will form helpful background to the discussions, we welcome everyone to the Discussion Groups.
