We are humbled and awed by your loving support and willingness to walk this journey forward in faith, together. Your words of encouragement and your presence during the conference proceedings ar evidence of your commitment as disciples in Community of Christ. The Spirit was abundantly evident during the service of blessing prepared by the evangelists. We have yet to finalize our responsibilities within our shared role as Mission Centre President team but will share as this evolves. Please feel free to contact us via email at the following addresses: Vonda DenBoer: [email protected] Dawn Dawson: [email protected] Mary Jean Belrose: [email protected] As well, you may wish to reach out to the Camping Leadership Team with questions, suggestions or to volunteer forr our various camp programs: Children and Youth Camps/Retreats Stacey Brookshaw: [email protected] Family Camps and Adult Retreats Nancy Brookshaw: [email protected] Community of Christ mission centers and congregations are invited to use a suggested worship service focusing on healing and petitions for peace as the war in Ukraine continues. John L. Bell, a Community of Christ International Peace Award recipient, and the Wild Goose Worship Group created the service. They graciously offer this timely resource as a free download to all who wish to utilize it during these troubled times. Bell is a Scottish hymn-writer and Church of Scotland minister. This liturgy may be used in small or large groups; it’s also applicable for personal devotions. It is nearly complete, with scripture readings, prayers, responsive readings, and hymns. It does not include Communion or A Disciple’s Generous Response. Scores for the songs and references to their sources are listed. This resource is available in English. Permission for noncommercial use of the liturgy is free through 30 June. For Community of Christ members and friends who wish to contribute to specific humanitarian aid in Ukraine and the surrounding areas, please continue to give however you typically give to World Church. Please ensure “Support for Ukraine” is indicated as a note/memo so that our financial officers know to direct it to purpose code 928. As previously announced, Community of Christ donated $20,000 USD from Worldwide Mission Tithes to organizations providing humanitarian support in Ukraine. Currently, church members in Ukraine are not requesting financial aid, but support will be provided if needed. Additionally, as people contribute to Ukraine through the church, the Presiding Bishopric will send support or partner with credible organizations working in Ukraine and surrounding areas to provide humanitarian aid. Please continue to uphold the people of Russia, Ukraine, and the surrounding areas in your prayers. Beyond the Walls - A Sacred Journey Lent is an opportunity to walk outside the walls of our everyday lives just like Jesus walked outside the walls of Judean society before embarking on his ministry. We invite you to consider the question “Are we moving towards Jesus, the Peaceful One?” as we share in spiritual practice, join our voices in hymns of discernment, and revisit moments of ministry that speak of the Sacred Journey through Lent that we received from around the world over the last two years. Our choir will premiere CCS 386 - “The Cause of Zion Summons Us.” PRELUDE: Le Retour (The Return) from Chants du Rhin (Songs of the Rhine) by Georges Bizet POSTLUDE: Fughetta from Prelude and Fughetta in F Major (BWV 901) by Johann Sebastian Bach Beyond the Walls is an online worship service offering live ministry from locations around the world. The World Church Latter-day Seekers Team is exploring new ways to support Community of Christ folks in mission centers who are offering ministry with Latter-day Seekers or who have Latter-day Seekers attending their congregations. They will be offering support in new Facebook groups focused on providing ideas for resources, helpful hints, stories, opportunities for sharing and more.
They would appreciate Pastors and members’ help in identifying those in your mission center who are involved in Latter-day Seeker ministry or who have Latter-day Seekers attending their congregations. If you would share their names and emails with the Latter-day Seekers Team they will send them an invitation to a new Latter-day Seeker Minister Support group. Please send the names of interested Latter Day Seekers to Kerry Richards by March 31st so we can forward the collective list to the World Church team. Thank you for your help. With meaning, Kerry Richards CEM President Dear Friends,
Spring has come somewhat and the freshness of the season arrives with the promise of new beginnings. As of this week, Provincial health guidelines for Covid are now in a stage of self-determination. For Congregations in our Mission Centre, this affords us to thoughtfully discuss our own comfort levels of going forward with re-opening for in-person worship, fellowship and programming. Each congregation can decide for themselves the protocols for their in-person gathering. In consultation with the incoming Mission Centre Presidency team, we recommend that congregations choosing to re-open keep a list of attendees for each gathering for possible contact tracing if anyone should test positive. We all are fully aware of the symptomatic conditions that would restrict someone from participating. Yet, we feel it should be announced at services or activities that recent contact with a person testing positive or symptomatic conditions you are experiencing would preclude you from participating that day. The expectation is that the Pastor and Congregational Safety Coordinator will be advised should a person test positive after attending. Congregations are empowered to thoughtfully and collectively self-determine their protocols. If the congregation together chooses to mask or unmask and spatial distance or not, then follow that protocol until you feel a comfort level to change. Or, if local health guidelines dictate stricter standards, adjust accordingly. May your considerations be blessed as you discuss the next steps for your congregation. May you be richly filled with the Spirit in gathering, in song and in the presence of one another. Be renewed, restored and rejoice. With Meaning, Kerry The Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada is leading a live prayer event:
