Al Wigood's heart is broken for the many people he has worked with and for over the last couple of decades and who have become his family. People are left stranded as roads are impassable. They are worried about how to feed their families and care for their needs. Currently the airport at Tegucigalpa is closed due to extensive flooding. Many of the villages have been completely submerged and many mud slides have been triggered. The situation is horrendous on top of the pandemic. "PRR is going to be helping those affected in their area. Not sure how yet", says World Accord. People are desperate for your help. Your donations will make a difference. ![]() Community of Christ Oblation Aid for Honduras Apostle Carlos Mejia in Honduras reports that Hurricane Eta damaged the northern part of the country 4 November, followed 17 November by Hurricane Iota that destroyed many roads and bridges throughout the country. Communication since has been unreliable, Mejia says. The Presiding Bishopric indicates $40,000 in Community of Christ Oblation Aid has been sent to assist in response to the storm damage. Oblation aid is part of the Worldwide Mission budget. "We had not yet woken up from Hurricane Eta when the other Hurricane Iota arrived. This was an experience never lived for some generations," Mejia said. "Several of our members and many families in general lost everything. Reaching some neighborhood communities is like reaching a war zone, everything is [destroyed]. At this moment there are many places that the water is still flooding the houses and it is impossible to reach these people with help. "Thank you to the entire church for your support in these difficult times," he concluded in a recent message to International Headquarters. Supporting Worldwide Mission Tithes helps meet needs created by the COVID-19 pandemic, storms, and fires around the world. May we remember and pray for all those affected by these tragedies. Please note that the meeting time has been revised from previous announcement (see below).
We have all encountered a year of anything but normalcy. Our calendar of typical events has morphed through new lenses into different forms and often diverse new audiences. We are on a learning curve that is accelerated by the critical mass of so many traversing newness simultaneously. Just some reflections I am encountering. We still have congregational business meetings to conduct as 2021 approaches and I suspect for most it will be on-line using Zoom. In order to prepare Pastoral teams to navigate the online logistics and voting, we are offering a workshop in November. This will simplify the process and acquaint leadership teams with the online skillsets to conduct a congregational business meeting for essential operations of the congregation. The date selected is Sunday, November 22 at 3 p.m. Pastoral teams are invited to attend. This will enable each congregation to enter the New Year with leadership confirmed and finances reported and adjusted in this period of church building closures. Of course, we recognize that on-line encounters have remained a blessing in our lives. Please confirm your attendance by emailing Melissa Freer. Thanks. Kerry Richards CEM President We invite you to be part of this inclusive church Beyond the Walls: “A Heritage of Faith.” We initiated our livestream services four years ago and we’ll take this opportunity to revisit some of our remarkable highlights from past years, which few of our current participants have ever experienced. The Beyond the Walls Choir will treat us to a festival of hymns to invite the spirit to set the tone for this special worship service. Let us worship together with hundreds of participants from around the world this Sunday, November 15th, 12 PM EST. SLIM (Sharing Love in Mission) - 2 p.m. Share in worship with President Scott Murphy. An open forum for questions regarding the church, the church's mission , World Church, etc. will follow the service with Scott. Contact Don Robb for Zoom info.
