Join us tomorrow, 28 November for a worldwide celebration of generosity, Giving Tuesday. This opportunity creates a positive impact around the world! It’s also a way for us to close our current budget gap. As of the end of October, contributions to Worldwide Mission Tithes were down $1.1 million USD from our budget goal. MATCHING GIFT In the spirit of generosity and community, our matching contribution for Giving Tuesday received a significant boost last week. It has increased to $250,000 USD from $200,000. So, a $25 contribution to Worldwide Mission Tithes becomes $50. Your contribution, no matter the size, can help us achieve great things! THANK YOU Tomorrow, join the generosity movement and let’s make a real, lasting difference in lives around the world. Thank you for your generosity! Beyond the Walls – Pursuit of Peace (Shalom) For our last of our Nine Enduring Principles, Rick Sarre joins us from Adelaide, Australia, to share a message on the Pursuit of Peace (Shalom). Rick is an Emeritus Professor of Law at the University of South Australia and a past president of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Criminology. He is the co-author or editor of numerous books, including Religion Matters: The Contemporary Relevance of Religion and Police Education and Training in a Global Society. In Community of Christ, we believe that God wants shalom (justice, reconciliation, well-being, wholeness, and peace) for all of creation, in all aspects of life. Our understanding of “the Kingdom of Heaven” or “Zion,” is a society that shares the blessings that come through living by the "upside down" principles of compassion and justice proclaimed by Jesus. God calls us to actively participate in the restoration of shalom across creation. We invite you to share this hour of reflection, prayer, meditation, music, and fellowship with the Beyond the Walls global community. 📅 Sunday,November 26, 2023. ⏰12:00 PM EST YouTube: ⏰12:00 PM EST Facebook: ⏰6:00 PM EST YouTube: ⏰6:00 PM EST Facebook: SLIM (Sharing Love in Mission) - 1:45 p.m. Apostle Art Smith will be our guest speaker. Thank you for your generosity! ![]() “The restoring of persons to healthy or right relationships with God, others, themselves, and the earth is at the heart of the purpose of your journey as a people of faith.” D&C 163:2b Climate Webinar Sunday, December 3 5 pm ET Public advocacy is one of the key actions for making a difference in addressing the current climate crisis. But few of us feel comfortable, or qualified, and often we wonder how it fits with our Christian principles of peace. The Advent season is a good time to reflect on the Biblical roots of taking non-violent direct action for justice. Rachie and Mike of Great Britain’s Christian Climate Action will share the Biblical roots from the Hebrew Scriptures and the New Testament. People of faith made courageous decisions in the past. They risked something new. Now it’s our turn to risk something new! If not registered for this Zoom series, please register here. The January 7, 2024 Climate Webinar will be dedicated to the formation of support groups. Start the year off right with new opportunities to connect and communicate with one another. We will explore possibilities for support focused on creation, eco-grief, practical action steps, educational opportunities, climate advocacy and more. |
