Sunday, May 16, 5 - 6:30 pm EDT With Follow-up Conversations: Thursday, May 20, 9 - 10:30 pm EDT and Sunday, May 23, 5 - 6:30 pm EDT We continue examining the disastrous impact climate disruption has on human populations around the globe. In this follow-up webinar by Dr. Richard Waugh, Professor Emeritus in Geography from Wisconsin University, the focus will be on melting mountain glaciers, ocean warming and acidification, and the opportunities we have to make a difference in the trends of global climate change. Dr. Waugh’s candor, expertise, and friendly demeanor enables him to speak the harsh truths of climate disruption while keeping webinar participants engaged, interested, and motivated. As a long-time elder in Community of Christ, his scholastic studies and teaching rest on a lasting appreciation of sacred space, an understanding of the sacredness of creation, and a deep respect for the Enduring Principles of the church. He brings to the conversations a firm conviction that people of faith must go beyond stewardship to mutuality. Come join us in the Climate Webinar on May 16, with Dr. Richard Waugh. Invite your friends to join as well. All sessions are free. Participation in previous webinars and conversations is not necessary to join in this opportunity. If you registered for a past webinar or conversation, you do not need to register again. Once registered, you will be sent a Zoom link a few days before each webinar, panel and conversation.

Margaret Ruth Warren, loved wife of the late William Warren (1999) passed away at the Blenheim Community Village on Wednesday April 14, 2021 with her children by her side. She was the youngest of eight children and the last surviving child born to the late Ernest & Myrtle (Spencer) Wood. She will be remembered with such fondness by her children Cheryl & Mike Lehman, Dennis Warren and Steven Warren, by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren Cynthia & Brett Blonde (Ashlyn and Kyrin), Derek & Lindsay Lehman (Riley and Jackson), Carrisa & Eric Dedrick (Kylar, Andrisa, Deagan, Mirrah, Jeanneva and Emerson) and Jeremiah Brown & Crystal Seminuk (Paylie, Charlie and Eva-Marie). Margaret lived in Erieau for many years where she was known as “The Pie or Cake Lady”. Baking was a labour of love for her and she made it seem easy. Christmas Eve at the Warren’s was always a time to celebrate with a house full of family and food. She was known for her ability to create unique cake styles and shapes that made the whole experience even more fun. Margaret was strong in her faith and was a dedicated member of the Community of Christ Church in Blenheim. She was a kind and caring person who was well respected and loved by all who knew her. Due to the current restrictions, a memorial service at Community of Christ Church will be held at a later date. Friends wishing to remember Margaret with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Community of Christ Church or the Parkinsons Society of Southwestern Ontario. Unfortunately, there are many scammers looking for opportunities to take advantage of non-suspecting individuals in many different ways. We want to warn you about one such scheme that may be circulating among or from Community of Christ members, friends and Mission Centre Leadership right now.

They are being sent by malicious entities who are impersonating people in your contacts list to gain your trust and exploit you. These kinds of fraudulent emails attempt to gain your trust in order to access your personal and/or credit card information, or to get money (in the form of gift cards). In the Shadow of The Pandemic An Eccumenical Good Friday Virtual Walk for Justice LIVE on YouTube and Facebook Friday, April 2 - 9:00 AM EDT (ON, CAN Simcoe County Kairos is honoured to bring you this year’s Ecumenical Good Friday Walk for Justice live online. A virtual peace and justice observance in solidarity with all members of the human family.
We are a local group inspired by the work of KAIROS Canada, a national social justice movement which unites the work of various Canadian churches and all people of faith or conscience as they work together for ecological justice and human rights. Before COVID, we would have gathered along the shore of Kempenfelt Bay on Lake Simcoe. In this second year of the pandemic, we gather again virtually to reflect on the parallels between the suffering and death of Jesus of Nazareth and the current suffering of many members of our community who have gone mostly unnoticed in the past year and whose numbers have grown due to the effects of the pandemic. Through reflections, songs and prayers we hope you will experience this year’s Good Friday walk for justice as an opportunity to show solidarity with all members of our human family. Specifically:
