It is time for a CELEBRATION!!

Blessing of Scarborough Congregation

Sunday, June 4th @ 10:30 a.m.
10 Eppleworth Road, Scarborough
(or via zoom @ 11 a.m.)
Salad Potluck Lunch to follow

Plan to join us for a very special Sunday service. We will be blessing the Scarborough Branch building and celebrating a Spirit of renewal for all members and friends. Gathering will take place outside at the front doors at 10:30 am outside. Bring positive thoughts and thanksgiving prayers in your heart and mind. Come prepared to have a special blessing of renewing your spirit and soul.

Bring your favourite salad to share in a potluck lunch following the service while enjoying fellowship of your extended family in Christ.

Remember God uses broken things to make things better. It takes broken soil to produce a crop, broken clouds to give rain, broken grain to give bread, and broken bread to give strength. Gratitude that we share with one another is the most positive and compassionate force in God’s world. When we offer thanks to God or to one another and other human beings, then gratitude gifts us with renewal, reflection, reconciliation, and reconnection to everything – especially God. We will renew our souls and connect by sharing in communion and fellowship.

Beyond the Walls – Everything Must Be Fulfilled

Before Jesus ascends to Heaven, he tells the disciples that everything written about him must be fulfilled then, “He opened their minds to understand the scriptures.” This Ascension Sunday, Roger Dodson brings our message exploring this account in Luke 24:36-51. Our choir will premiere a new recording of Redeemer of Israel. Beyond the Walls – Everything Must Be Fulfilled. We hope to see you there on Sunday, May 21, at 12:00 PM or 6:00 PM EDT. Congregational Recorders are responsible for recording and updating important information about our members and friends (see list below). It's easy to miss some of these critical pieces of information as life gets busy.

You can help us catch up on many "life events" that may have been missed in months past. Help us to help you! If you have had a significant life event happen, please chat with your congregational recorder, and make sure they are aware of the details, so we all don't have to face the difficult challenge of "recreating history".

Life Events of special interest:
· Marriages, Divorces
· Child Blessings
· Baptisms, Confirmations
· Ordinations
· name changes, address changes, phone changes, e -mail changes
· Temple School classes attended
· Children turning 18 years old

· Adding/changing offering envelopes
· Changing congregations
· Starting / Ending Herald in Every Home program

So please, help your congregational Recorder help you, by reminding them of these and similar events, and providing details. Your Recorder will know what questions to ask! Not sure who your membership Recorder is? Contact your Pastor.

It is with great sorrow that the family of Joseph William Reid announces his passing, on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the age of 39.

Joseph is survived by his father, William “Bill”, his mother Heather, his sister Rebecca and his beloved niece Sunni. Joseph is also survived by his grandmother Joan Sagle as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins.

Joe was a graduate of the ITP program at Lambton College, as well as Business Marketing from Fanshawe College in London. Joe was a skilled musician and enjoyed nothing better than playing his guitars or going to live concerts with his buddies. Joseph believed music was an expression of life and love. He was a certified scuba diver, had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and even jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. When he wasn’t playing sports, he was rooting on his favourite teams, the Green Bay Packers and the Montreal Canadiens.

Joseph’s handy work with tools is displayed with new wooden steps and landing at his parents’, his sister’s and other homes he has worked on. Joe travelled throughout North America, Europe and parts of Asia, backpacking for a month in Thailand. So much talent, so much knowledge, so much life, cut short by the scourge of depression and mental health shortfalls. Loved and remembered. Reach out to others if you suffer.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Community of Christ Church, 1104 Leckie Drive, Sarnia, on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. with family and friends being received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to CMHA or a charity of your choice (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
