Saturday, November 20 12 Noon EST Apostle Art Smith invites you to gather for a Canada-wide Zoom conference to envision together the path ahead. Please share your vision and voice with us. In this second conference, we will share what we’ve been hearing and learning from the many diverse and passionate individuals who share Community of Christ identity across Canada. We will once again break into groups to build on what we’ve learned and to consider the opportunities and challenges past the lockdowns. Finally, we will present the Celebrate Mission program, a new way to amplify your voice. Discerning Across Canada People's passion for mission finds expression in a diversity of ways across Canada. As voices have been shared in our conferences, discussion groups, and testimonies, we have been listening. Some themes are already emerging. We will share these results and invite everyone to ponder what other voices need to be heard. Celebrate Mission We will introduce the #celebrateMission program. You are living out Christ’s mission in unique and exciting ways. As a church family, we want to be able to hear the good news and celebrate with you. When you celebrate mission, your voice resonates across Canada and inspires others. Envision the Path Ahead As we glimpse the future after the lockdowns, we will envision the path ahead together. Is your congregation going back to in-person meetings? Will your online events continue? Do you plan on a hybrid experience where remote participants can still join with those gathering physically? We will share ideas and best practices in breakout discussions. The thousands of Canadian Armed Forces members who are serving overseas appreciate receiving letters and cards from Canadians across the country. This program is also very popular with schools, clubs, and other organizations from across Canada.
Only letters or cards are acceptable for the program. Packages addressed to Any CAF member are considered charitable goods, which are prohibited in the Canadian Forces Postal System. You may choose a specific mission from the address list or you may address the letters/cards to one of the three locations below: Any CAF Member mail program c/o CFPU Operations Astra ON K0K 3W0 Any Canadian Sailor Fleet Mail Office Halifax PO Box 99000 Stn Forces Halifax NS B3K 5X5 Any Canadian Sailor Fleet Mail Office Esquimalt PO Box 17000 Stn Forces Victoria BC V9A 7N2 In addition, older retired members of the CAF also appreciate these letters and cards. For a veterans facility in your local community, please use this link to find an address to mail them a letter or card as well. This program isn’t limited to Remembrance Day or the Christmas season. All mail that arrives at the Canadian Forces Postal Unit is sorted between the different operations/locations, combined into larger shipments, and then sent to each location on a weekly basis. This work by the postal unit staff continues every week, all year round. Regardless of what day it is on the calendar, any received mail item is always appreciated by the deployed soldier, sailor or aviator when it arrives. Note: Canada Post’s offer of free postage services to deployed members is meant for friends and family of the deployed CAF member in question. Letters/Cards addressed to “Any CAF Member” can be sent, but will need a postage stamp. An option to save mailing costs is to combine multiple letters and cards into one larger package for sending, as only the package itself will need to be paid for. November 27, 10-1 pm EST Prison ministry is an area of ministry not everyone is comfortable with. Woodfield has been partnered with the Mennonite Center of Kitchener for the past four years providing monthly welcome home hampers of cleaning supplies to inmates upon their release and reestablishment in their own apartments in London. "There have been some tangible blessings that our congregation has received with thank you notes from former in-mates and the probation department employees over the years. This past year, one lady who we provided a welcome home hamper of supplies had moved into a larger living accommodation and was able to retrieve all her belongings that she had stored in plastic bins", reports Ron Rowbottom of Woodfield Congregation. She requested that the probation office donate her 8 plastic bin totes to our congregation so we could use them to provide hampers to others. For more information or to register, click the button below or email Ron Rowbottom.
