Allan Douglas Wigood born January 29, 1930, passed away peacefully March 28, 2022, at 3:20 am at Grand River Hospital. In the weeks before his death Allan was surrounded by his family, just the way he imagined his last days on earth would be. Allan expressed much excitement for all of his heavenly reunions but the one he longed for the most was with his true love and wife of almost 65 years, Hazel Wigood. Allan took great pride in the family and beautiful life he and Hazel built together. He leaves behind his 5 children Jim Wigood (Renie), Linda Schott, Susan Wigood, Ken Wigood (Diana), Diane Noseworthy (Bernie), his grandchildren, Rob (Jackie), Jason, Lori (Mike), Jeremy, Sarah, Chad (Jordan), Aimee, Meghan, Dina, Tim (Megan) Danny (Matty) and Zach (Cassie). He adored his 24 great-grandchildren and was excited to welcome his 5th and 6th great-great-grandchildren just weeks before his passing! Allan also leaves behind his special family in Honduras, Gricelda, Patrocinio, Sindy, Darlin, Zoe and Ecsael and many many friends! Allan has also been reunited in heaven with his parents Jean and Cecil Wigood, sister Isabelle, brother Fred, beloved son Bruce Wigood, son-in-law Gary Schott, granddaughter Stephanie Schott and many others. Allan will be so sorely missed and remembered for more reasons than can possibly be expressed in one short obituary. It was very clear to him, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him, that he was divinely chosen to do great things on this earth. He was a true earth angel, a pillar of strength, not only to his own family and community but also many communities around the world. Allan was the epitome of love, the kindest and most generous spirit, always giving all that he could to serve others. Allan was a very dedicated member of Community of Christ in Kitchener for much of his life. In 1977 he was ordained and went on to be an elder with the Church. Over the years he has joined many couples in marriage, blessed countless individuals, saw many off on their journeys to the other-side and started his very important work with World Accord. Allan spent his early working years as an entrepreneur. His last 16 years of his career were spent with Home Hardware where he would retire and continue with the work he was truly passionate about. Allan changed the lives of innumerable people in Honduras where he spent the last 30+ years of his life building up impoverished communities, educating farmers, helping to end malnutrition, and fighting for better education for the youth. He improved the quality of life for so many individuals and has been loved and respected so deeply by all for his many years of dedication and hard work. He truly was a King in their community. Allan had a life goal to complete 50 schools and was very proud to have accomplished this goal. He finalized his last build just weeks before he passed. His final build was quite a special one. A two room high school in memory of his beloved son-in-law Gary Schott. In Allan's 92 years of life, he modeled to so many what we desperately need more of in this world. He was a man of God and always held strong to his faith even through his most difficult days. He loved unconditionally and without judgment, accepting everyone. He lived simply and peacefully, finding joy in small moments. He had a vision for his life, and he conquered it beyond anyone's wildest dreams. He lived with purpose and passion and always followed his heart. His presence in this world made a massive difference and his absence will leave a great hole in the hearts of many. Allan your life was a true blessing to so many and your memory and legacy is sure to live on forever. Funeral details will be confirmed and made available on the funeral home website on approximately Wednesday April 6, 2022. As expressions of sympathy, donations to World Accord - Al Wigood would be appreciated (cards available at the funeral home). Visit www.henrywalser.com to view Allan's memorial. Spring is here and this marks another new beginning and a new chapter here at World Accord. We are thrilled to announce that Kristin Douglas will be leading the team at World Accord as the new Executive Director effective April 4, 2022. We will be saddened to see David Barth go at the end of April but are also celebrating his 24 years of service where he successfully led World Accord to grow and fulfill its mission of cultivating communities that thrive. Kristin is an experienced and passionate non-profit professional with a focus on fund development, relationship management, strategic planning, campaign management and volunteer engagement. Most recently, she worked as the Executive Director for Ethiopiaid, a non-profit organization focused on sexual and reproductive health and rights and women’s empowerment. Kristin is a very well rounded, passionate and intelligent leader. She brings more than eight years of professional experience from both small, grassroots non-profits like World Accord, as well as large, national and international NGOs. With a BA in Philosophy, Minor in Social Justice and MSc in Human Rights & International Politics, she has a passion for the type of work that World Accord does and an appreciation for how we pursue our goals. World Accord is in good hands. On a more personal level, Kristin has a number of hobbies and interests. She describes herself as a “social butterfly” which can be reflected in her love for concerts, trivia nights, and comedy shows. She uses her social skills in athletics as well, as she currently participates in an ultimate frisbee league. Similar to many of our World Accord donors and previous Executive Directors, Kristin also has a huge passion for travel and hopes to see as many of the corners of the world as possible. She enjoys both classic weekend road trips or more adventurous and exotic international travel. For our foodie members of World Accord, you can win the heart of our new executive director with ceviche, or “arguably the best pizza in North America” fresh from Windsor. Furthermore, Kristin is not only a lover of Peruvian food, but she is also known for her breakfast-making skills. Eggs Benedict and omelets are her favourite foods to cook up while at home with her partner and yorkie poo. Thank you all very much for everything you have done for David Barth, World Accord, and our partners during his tenure. David expressed “It has been a privilege and an honour to serve you and our partner organizations in this manner. I know Kristin will enjoy getting to know you all as much as I have, and hope you enjoy getting to know her as well.” Ben Smith, Mission President for Community of Christ in Australia brings our message this week from Melbourne, Victoria, on the theme “Being in the Sacred Present.” Wendy Ballard will offer the invocation and Judy Jackson will give a reading from the famous Green Cathedral at the Tiona reunion ground in New South Wales. "When I am given opportunity to offer ministry, I know that it is in the best interest of everyone if I place my trust in the presence, the grace, the wisdom and the strength of the divine. I know it's in my best interest and the best interest of those I seek to serve if I trust in the guiding spirit of the Holy." - Henri Nouwen "We do not need to know precisely where we're going or what is happening.
