After considering the many time zones in which our SPEC family lives, this timeframe allows the greatest opportunity for participation during our typical “awake” hours. 

• 2:00 pm – Zoom opens… get logged in and say hello!
• 2:15 pm – Welcome
• 2:30-4 pm – SPEC Today
• 4:30-6 pm – Adventure Classes
• 6:30 pm – Worship and Backwards Campfire

SPEC Today 
2:30-4 pm
One of the core values of SPECTACULAR is to provide a safe place to risk something new. We believe having difficult and sometimes awkward conversations with room to explore and learn are critical as we try our best to follow Jesus.  Our SPEC Today session will explore the question “Where do we go from here?” with a focus on racial justice.

SPEC Today starts with a large group session and then we’ll move into breakout sessions. On the registration form, you’ll get to choose which one you’d like to attend.

Breakout Sessions:

• Cultural Appropriation - this session will define what it means to appropriate or take over the identity markers of a culture other than your own, identify examples in our everyday lives, and explore ways to combat it.
• Myths White People Tell - this session will identify things white people tell themselves and discuss how they impact current events.
• Scripture & Race - this session will discuss how scripture supports racial justice
• Social Media for Social Justice - Tik Tok, Instagram, and other social media platforms have become a place for young people to get educated on racial justice and to become activists. This session will discuss how to be educated and determine content value.
• Systemic Racism - this session will introduce the idea of systemic racism and discuss its impact on current events.

Adventure Classes
4:30-6 pm
We have a selection of some of the Adventure class favorites to choose from that could be transferred to the digital realm. Make your selection on the registration form.

• eSports (Jared Doty) Want to get better? Drills, exercises, and practice you can do to improve your eSports performance!
• #GirlStrong (Ginelle Sakima Roberts & Kara Vojcsik) Come find your true, authentic power. Unlock your strengths by sifting through YOUR story and learn how to own your space in this world. You are worthy, you are enough.
• Hula (Trudi Gunderson) Come move your hips, hands, feet at once while smiling and telling a story through ancient and modern Hula. Aunty Trudi welcomes you into the strength and grace of this Hawaiian practice.
• Sing It! (Joey Williams) Bring your voice and get ready sing, have some fun, and be part of an online choir!
• Sports Clinic-Volleyball (GU Coaches) Coronavirus got you or your team on the sidelines? Keep your skills sharp with GU coaches and these drills and games geared for solo practice.
• Sports Clinic-Basketball (GU Coaches) Coronavirus got you or your team on the sidelines? Keep your skills sharp with GU coaches and these drills and games geared for solo practice.
• Waterfall (SPEC Today) Wish you’d had more time in SPEC Today? Continue the conversation and create a safe place to process what you heard and learned about the topic of racial justice.
• Yoga & Meditation (Amy Black) Come stretch, build strength, learn new poses, and tap into your inner quiet self.

Worship and Backwards Campfire
6:30 pm
Come experience a SPEC Worship and hear from campers, the worship team, and Community of Christ President Steve Veazey! We’ll end our day with a backwards campfire led by the Seagraves family. You won’t want to miss it!
 
**Campers… want to be part of the unique experience of creating a SPEC worship?**

Contact worship leaders Daniel & Emily, and plan to join them on Wednesday, July 15 at 2:00 CST via Zoom. This class will include “homework,” so be prepared to carve some time into your schedule on Wednesday and Thursday to work on some special projects! Having a smart phone or device that can record video will be helpful to have if you plan to be involved.
