Camp Counselor/Activity Leader
3 positions- 2 in Ontario, 1 in Alberta

Community of Christ is looking for Camp Counselor/Activity Leaders to join their team in Canada. This is a full-time, 7 week fixed term position reporting to the Director of Camping and Campgrounds involving work at Erie Beach, Ziontario and Noronto campgrounds in Ontario or Hills of Peace in Alberta. Funding for these positions is by Canada Summer Jobs and the applicant must meet their eligibility criteria. Candidates are required to be able to attend to all three camp locations. Successful candidates will be required to work some weekends to accommodate camp programs.

Job Overview:
The Camp Counselor/Activity Leader will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of a group of campers at all times. This individual will plan and lead activities such as games, crafts, sports, campfires, devotions, and educational projects, enforce camp rules, and participate in maintaining the cleanliness of camp. They also assist in the preparation and closure of the camp or campground and perform other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Ensure Safety and Well-Being of Campers
    • Maintain constant surveillance of assigned group of campers
    • Encourage positive behaviours among campers
    • Support campers in adjusting to the camp environment
    • Lead by example in attitudes and actions
    • Model good stewardship of camp facilities and the campground
  • Plan & Lead Activities
    • Arrive before or alongside campers to scheduled activities
    • Be familiar with activity materials and arrive prepared with necessary equipment
    • Break down skills into simple, manageable steps for campers
    • Teach campers how to properly use and care for equipment
    • Demonstrate enthusiasm, patience, and creativity in all activities
  • Foster a Sense of Community
    • Encourage positive social interaction among campers
    • Create opportunities for individuals to build and restore healthy relationships with God, themselves, others, and creation
    • Manage differences respectfully, promoting the dignity of all individuals and fostering peace and reconciliation
  • Duty of Care
    • Provide appropriate supervision at all times
    • Report all incidents according to camp procedures
    • Know, understand, and adhere to all camp rules and policies
    • Encourage participation while respecting a camper’s right to refuse activities
    • Avoid being alone with a camper in any compromising situation
    • Seek guidance when unsure how to handle a situation
    • Understand and respect privacy policies
    • Report any reasonable suspicions that a child or youth under the age of 16 may be in need of protection​

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children and youth is preferred (1–3 years as a Leader in Training or equivalent experience)
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification is an asset.
  • Able to complete (PAL) certification program for working with children, youth, and vulnerable persons prior to start of first camp (Provided by the organization upon hiring.)
  • Mental Health First Aid training is considered an asset
  • Lifeguard certification is considered an asset
  • Clean criminal record check
  • Collaborates effectively with others by contributing to team efforts and supporting colleagues to achieve common goals
  • Ability to balance priorities and manage multiple responsibilities effectively
  • Communicates clearly and effectively with campers and staff
  • Demonstrates responsibility, sound decision-making, and problem-solving skills

Camping Administration Data Specialist
Reports to the Director of Camping and Campgrounds

Scope of Services and Deliverables
The Proponent agrees to provide the following:
  • Review and compile existing camping-related data from various sources (e.g., registration lists, camp records, spreadsheets, historical documents, and digital files).
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and duplication within current records.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to collect missing or additional information as needed.
  • Develop a unified, well-structured database that captures essential fields (e.g., participants, staff, certifications, fees, attendance, camp details).
  • Standardize data formats and naming conventions.
  • Ensure the resulting database is easy to navigate and suitable for ongoing updates.
  • Provide documentation outlining structure, data definitions, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Offer a brief training or orientation session to identified staff/volunteers on how to use and maintain the database

​​Deliverables, the Proponent will provide:
  • A consolidated and fully functional camping database.
  • Summary documentation and maintenance guidelines.
  • Brief training/orientation session for designated users.

Graphic Designer
Communications Team – Community of Christ in Canada
Scope of Services and Deliverables

The Proponent agrees to provide the following:
  • A portfolio of original graphic content, including templates, images, video, slideshows, and working project files (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, Canva).
  • Graphic content based on provided text and concepts for use in announcements, marketing campaigns, fundraising campaigns, and other purposes. 
  • Digital media packages optimized for relevant platforms, including website, email, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok. 
  • Media packages for print, such as postcards, promotional items, and other materials.
  • Manuals, guidelines, and template instructions for staff and volunteers at the organizational and congregational levels. 
  • Categorized libraries of graphic content for internal use and publication. 
  • A summary of all content delivered, including suggestions for updates and improvements based on performance, user feedback, and industry trends. 

To produce the deliverables, the Proponent will:
  • Use only original work, licensed material, public domain assets, or organization-provided photos and video.
  • Browse stock image and video catalogues to source appropriate material.
  • Evaluate, organize, and catalogue usable source material into libraries.
  • Understand the organization’s mission and principles, and express them through visual design.
  • Follow the organization’s visual identity standards for all deliverables.
  • Adapt all deliverables to suit the intended audience (e.g., members, general public, youth).
  • Clip, resize, and repurpose long-form video content for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts.
  • Ensure all deliverables adhere to current platform guidelines and specifications (e.g., recommended dimensions, formats, durations).
  • Track performance, user feedback, and emerging industry trends.
  • Create templates and working files using Canva and/or Adobe Creative Cloud products such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator.
  • Obtain approval from the Director of Communications before using any additional design tools.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications on creative direction and project tracking.
