June Violet (Kurtz) McLean June 12, 1935 ~ February 3, 2022 (age 86) Click here to join online serivce Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 2:00 pm. This tiny, spunky woman never gave up, no matter what life threw at her. A fabulous cook, baker, cake decorator, event planner and organizer left this Earth peacefully, after a medical event. She leaves behind her husband Rod, daughter Kimberley McLean (Charles Kaiser), son-in-law Darren Hager (Karen, predeceased), daughter-in-law Karie McLean (Mark, predeceased) and grandchildren Korbyn McLean (Amanda Buchnea), Stacia Tizzard (Lucas), Rileigh McLean, Carsten McLean. June’s many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and friends will also miss her huge presence. She was so looking forward to her first great-grandchild from Stacia and Lucas, and the wedding between Abe Martin and Rileigh, highly anticipated events this year. Family gatherings were what she loved. Her devotion to helping others manifested through decades of volunteering for Terry Fox runs and helping with Camp Quality, not to mention thousands of church related activities with Community of Christ and the Salvation Army. In lieu of flowers, should you wish to donate, June would prefer support to the Terry Fox Foundation terryfox.org or Camp Quality Canada campquality.org We are requesting prayers for Dar Shepherdson, the Bishop of Canada, who has entered hospital in Midland with initial tests indicating he has had a heart attack. Dar has shared that he is resting comfortably and awaiting transfer to the Barrie cardiac hospital for an angiogram to determine next steps. Dar and his wife Shari and family would most gratefully welcome the prayers of all to bless him and the medical teams attending to his care. Further information will be shared as available.
Ruth Wickett Ruth passed away at her residence with her family by her side on Thursday February 3rd, 2022 at the age of 61. She was taken from us far too soon due to uveal melanoma. Loving wife of Jeffrey Phelps. Beloved mother of Shannon, Megan, Victoria, and Emma, and stepmother to April, Victoria and Katryna. She will be sadly missed by her grandchildren Ronan, Zoe, Isaac, Iris, Andrew and Lily. Also survived by her sisters Linda and Wendy. She was predeceased by her parents Mae and Marvin Wickett and by her brother Ron Wickett. Ruth showed her love through serving others. Her caring spirit and sense of humour were great assets during her career as a Registered Nurse. For 30 years, she also spent time every summer cooking for Camp Noronto’s family camp. She was always happy to travel when needed to support and visit her children and fill them with food. As per her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. There will be a small celebration of life once the warmer weather is here. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Fund or the North Bay Serenity Hospice would be gratefully appreciated.
