Update from the Conferences and Representation Committee

The Conferences and Representation Model committee is one of the five groups comprising the Mission Centre Design Team. This committee is pleased to present to the church the following draft recommendation on representation models (member vs delegates). The goal is to ensure equitable representation at Canada-wide conferences.

1. All-Canada annual conferences are recommended to be hybrid conferences, with both online and in-person options available.
2. Livestream options should be provided for friends and seekers.
3. All-Canada in-person conferences should alternate between east and west, with a frequency of three to five years.
4. For representation at Canada Conferences, the committee recommends a member conference with voting options that require registration to validate membership.
5. The committee recommends that the maximum number of members from any one congregation or jurisdiction be a percentage of the total number of members attending.
6. The committee considered the possibility of a large conference or colloquy focused on mission (e.g., peace and justice) that invites people from across North America, with a member conference option as part of the larger endeavor.
