Our 2026 camp schedule is beginning to fill in! Confirmed dates are now published on our Events Calendar. We will add more information as directors finalize their plans. Please note that not all camps are listed yet—some will be confirmed shortly, and registration and other details will follow.
While you’re there, take a look at everything else happening across Canada! Our Events Calendar includes not only reunions and retreats, but also congregation activities, special events, and online offerings that everyone can join. Check back often for new updates as we continue to grow and move onward together as one Community of Christ in Canada! By Alfredo Zelaya, Sr High Camp Community Director
This year at Sr. High Camp, we embarked on a powerful journey through the theme Unmuted—a call to find our voice, use it well, and understand the impact of what we say and what we choose to listen to. We began in silence, exploring the fears and insecurities that often cause us to mute ourselves. Through daily themes like Volume Up, Echo, and Mic Check, we built courage and learned how vulnerability, honesty, and listening are all part of authentic self-expression. Campers were challenged to own their stories, name the voices that shape them, and use their words to speak truth—not just for themselves, but for others. Throughout the week, we wove together personal growth, spiritual reflection, and a deepening sense of community, all within a vibrant atmosphere of connection and joy. We explored the power of words to heal, to build up, and to unify through meaningful moments in small groups, morning Community Celebrations, and our deeply moving Reflect & Connect service. Equally powerful were the community-building moments of laughter and play that brought us even closer: spirited House Cup challenges that fostered team spirit, corn roasting and music jamming at the beach-front party, late-night waffle runs, the legendary poutine party, and a Viking-themed banquet that turned mealtime into an epic celebration. These shared experiences created unforgettable memories and meaningful bonds. Whether in quiet conversations or loud cheers, our campers stepped into confidence not because they had all the answers, but because they discovered their voices are valuable—and they belong. This year also marked a continued season of growth for Sr. High Camp. With strong numbers and a vibrant, committed team of volunteer staff and LITs, we created a safe, joy-filled space where youth could reconnect with their inner voice and their calling as community builders and followers of Jesus. By the end of the week, each camper carried home a “mic drop” message: a commitment to speak with purpose, live authentically, and contribute to communities of joy, hope, love, and peace. The sound of silence was replaced by the sound of unity, support, and newfound confidence. We look ahead with excitement to the Thanksgiving Retreat (October 10–12), and eagerly anticipate returning to Sr. High Camp Noronto in August 2026. Until then, we remain Unmuted—voices raised in love, purpose, and a shared commitment to community building that moves beyond words into action. “Sit quietly, and listen for the voice that says “Be deeper still”
- Rumi Join us for a pilgrimage into Silence, as you discover Silence as a companioning presence within, guiding you in your life and spiritual journey. This is an opportunity for those who might be new to a silent retreat, as well as those who want to deepen their experience. Together, we will hold a spacious silence for each other in a safe and supportive community. Cultivate the capacity to “be still and know” as you perceive the whispers of Spirit that arise when we take time to listen deeply to our bodies, our minds, our hearts, our souls. Receive gentle guidance for this inner journey through practices of presence: meditation, journaling, relaxation, nature, art, music, poetry, or whatever creative practices call to you in the depths of Silence. Follow the rhythm of nature, and your own soul. As we emerge from the embrace of Silence together, you may discover the echoes of Silence accompanying you on your journey home and beyond. This Silence within becomes a touchstone we can return to anytime, even amidst the busyness of our lives. Registration is now open. $275 per person, Early Bird Rate until Sept 6 $250 Facilitators: Vickie MacArthur and Lanette Vawter Inquiries: Debra Donohue [email protected] A moment with your Mission Centre President is a tradition of the Canada West Mission Centre. This week we invite all members across Canada to share a moment with Vonda DenBoer, Canada East Mission Co-President.
Do you have fond memories of a camp? Whether it’s a treasured memory of something you experienced, those moments have shaped who you are today. Our camp experiences may be the only time we experience a sacred community. Camps are safe places. At camp, we make new friends and cherish time with old friends. When I think back to my many camping experiences, I think of the people who made them special. I remember Don Arrowsmith teaching self-defence at a youth camp. He was even gracious enough to let me flip him, making me feel like I had mastered the art! I recall a Senior High camp at Monetville (before it was called Noronto) where we had so many youth that we had to sleep on the floor. I remember the long bus ride on a Badder school bus with Allan Badder driving us to our first youth camp. I remember the amazing Rod McLean, who directed that Jr. High camp at Port Elgin campground. I was overwhelmed, exhausted, and homesick, and he was so kind and understanding. It was at a youth camp that I first learned how to waterski, canoe, practise archery, perform self-defence, and create crafts with yarn and nails. I learned how to make a logbook and many other things. I forged friendships that continue to this day. It was at a youth camp where I first had the courage to stand and bear testimony. It was also at a youth camp where I first experienced a manifestation of the spirit that brought me to tears. I am grateful for those who made it possible: counsellors, teachers, camp pastors, camp directors, and camp nurses. They didn’t just do their jobs; they created an environment for a sacred community to manifest. I remember being accepted and loved, encouraged, and challenged. Perhaps you have served as a counsellor, teacher, director, pastor, nurse, or lifeguard. I hope you have some amazing stories and that you share them to encourage others. We want to invite every child to encounter an amazing camp experience, but we need your help. Please spread the word about your wonderful experiences and build up the excitement. If you’re able, why not help support kids going to camp? Maybe they need a ride, maybe they need financial help, or maybe they just need someone to encourage them. Let’s support our camps and create opportunities for every child to experience a sacred community. |
