History

Saskatoon Congregation

The first services were held in the Saskatoon area at the Gendron homestead by Elder Alvin Knisley in 1904.  Then in 1906 an organization meeting was held 16 miles southeast of Saskatoon.  The committee named it the Iowa Branch and Elder John Beckman was the elected president.  In 1908 the first Sunday School was organized but it was 1915 when "Religio", a literary organization that was very popular with young people mainly to study the Book of Mormon, was organized.

There were 82 members enrolled in the branch.

In 1909 delegates were elected for district conference which was held in a tent on Main Street in Saskatoon.  In 1917 the church building was built at Floral, near the Paul Schmidt farm.  In 1926 it was moved to the location of Main Street and Dufferin Avenue, in Saskatoon. The first service was held in the churches' present location of First Street and Dufferin Avenue, April 21, 1957 after a very dedicated effort to raise the funds for the construction.
