After almost two years of planning, the first “Formation Retreat” for the Canada East Mission Co-Missioned Pastor Initiative (CPI) was held March 27-29, 2009 at the Crieff Hills Centre near Guelph, Ontario.
Twelve participants representing seven CEM congregations have made the covenant to the three-year training program. The initial retreat focused on “The Call to Leadership”, helping participants explore their call, their leadership and interpersonal skills. Instructional leadership was provided by: Canadian Field Apostle, Mary Jacks Dynes; CEM President, Carman Thompson; CEM Focus Minister, Marion Smith; CEM Financial Officer, Mike Hewitt; and CPI Co-ordinator, Douglas Bolger. World Church CPI graduates Marilyn Graham and Cheryl Brooks served as a worship resource team for the weekend.
