Capital Gains Tax Change Can Benefit Church and Donors - Recent changes in the tax act means gifts of stock to the church "in kind" results in NO CAPITAL GAINS TAX for the donor. Should the donor sell the stock themselves, 50% of the gain would be taxable in the donors hands. When the church receives the actual stock  certificate and then the church sells the stock, there is no tax on the capital gain. The donor still receives a tax receipt for the donation to help offset personal income tax. This does not apply to shares in private corporations. Also see informative article on "Shuffling Assets." For more information please contact Ken Mcgowan at 1-877-526-7526
